I’m a hybrid! Born hearing, later deaf, and definitely Deaf – with a cochlear implant, I straddle both the hearing and Deaf worlds making me a bi-culturally sensitive counsellor.

I’ve worked in a number of settings:

  • Nursing
  • Social Work
  • Public Education
  • Sex Work
  • Counselling – general and addictions
  • Addictions residential rehab
  • Supervision

I have qualifications in nursing, counselling, addictions and most recently, professional supervision, and I live in Upper Hutt, Wellington with my hearing partner Bruce.

Some things I do that are important to me:

  • Working with people, hearing their stories and journeying with them toward positive growth and change.
  • Kindness without judgement
  • Correct inequity
  • Being open to change
  • Being outdoors and active
  • Home Do-It-Yourself – give me my power tools!
  • Making great indoor spaces – colour, colour and more colour.
  • Roadies
  • Hanging with friends
  • Trying new things
  • Being in stillness with my Higher Power
  • Whanau and creating memorable whanau events
  • Celebrating successes with creativity
  • Being a positive, supportive Mum, friend, partner, sister, daughter and colleague
  • Learning!
